Athanasios Papathanassiou Bioinformatician, B.Sc, M.Sc
He graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications. He holds a Master’s Degree in Informatics in Medicine and Biology, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The scientific field of his work focuses on the genetic analysis of Hereditary Cancer Predisposition Syndromes and Rare Diseases as well as the genetic analysis of cancer in general.

Dimitra Paranou Bioinformatics B.Sc, M.Sc,
Dimitra Paranou received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and her master’s degree in Bioinformatics – Biomedical Data Science from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
She has professional experience in both web application development and machine learning model development for time series forecasting and classification problems. In addition, he has worked in the field of research as a research assistant at the Institute of Management Information Systems (IMIS) of the ATHENA Research Center and at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA). She has 4 publications in recognized scientific journals.

Anna Karavangelis Bioinformatics, B.Sc, M.Sc
She studied Biology at the University of Crete and holds a Master’s Degree in Informatics in Medicine and Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research interests include the role of non-coding transcripts in gene regulation and she has 4 publications in international journals.
She has been working at Genekor M.S.A since 2024.
Arsenios Chatzigeorgiou B.Sc, M.Sc
Arsenios Chatzigeorgiou received his bachelor’s degree in biology and his master’s degree in bioinformatics – Biomedical Data Science (MSc) at the University of Athens. Previously, he has worked in institutes BSRC Alexander Fleming and EMBL-EBI. His scientific interest is on single cell and spatial transcriptomics pipelines and applications, and metadata modelling and FAIRness.

Damianos Melidis B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D
He studied computer science at the engineering school of University of Patras (Greece). Following his interest in using computer science at health care, he studied his master degree at collaborative program between ETH and UZH (Switzerland). Ηe worked as research assistant at the bioinformatics team of Agroscope AG for his one-year internship. During his doctorate at LUH (Germany), he researched methods to improve classification methods for different data types (data streams, protein sequences, and human variants). At his PhD, he created a bioinformatics tool to automate ACMG/AMP guidelines for congenital hearing loss. After this PhD, he worked as Bioinformatics Scientist at Platomics GmbH in Vienna (Austria) and as special scientist (bioinformatics) at the Biobank of Cyprus.

George Petihakis, B.Sc, M.Sc
George Petihakis received his B.Sc. in Computer Science (2016) from the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus. He received an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics (2019) from the Department of Biology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, followed by an M.Sc. in Digital Systems Security (2025), from the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus. From 2020 to 2022, he worked as a Software Engineer. From 2023 to 2025, he served as an Assistant Researcher and Software Engineer with the Systems Security Laboratory at the University of Piraeus, where his research focused on Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity. In 2026, he joined Obrela as a SOC Analyst. He has published 2 papers in peer-reviewed journals in the field of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and has presented his work at three peer-reviewed conferences in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and Cybersecurity.

Marios Andrikopoulos Bioinformatician B.Sc, M.Sc
Marios Andrikopoulos is a graduate of the Department of Biology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), where he also completed his Master’s Degree in “Bioinformatics – Computational Biology.” He worked as a Bioinformatician at QACS – The Challenge Test Laboratory, where he was responsible for designing and implementing computational analyses of the human microbiome, as well as WGS analyses for the characterization of spoilage microorganism strains.
